The presentation for the October meeting will be given by Stauffer Miller, former MBC President, longtime expert naturalist in general, and leader of countless field trips during his time here. The subject will be the birds of Mexico and will be based on four (yes, four) trips he made to different parts of that country during the first half of 2003. A wide variety of habitats, ranging from junglelike parts of the south near the Guatemalan border to arid northern Mexico were visited. Few are more relentless at ferreting out birds than Stauffer or as diligent at making certain they are correctly identified. The meeting will be doubly satisfying both for giving us the opportunity to welcome back a great friend of MBC and for developing a better appreciation for what birds dwell south of the border. It should be a special evening.
As tradition dictates, you are invited to our Meet the Speaker pre-meeting dinner at Brick Oven Restaurant, 1966 Rio Hill Center, Charlottesville at 5:30pm.
