From your Club News Reporter: You may recall that Bob Schamerhorn was originally scheduled as the Speaker for our September meeting, but he never made it there. Bob profusely apologized to Lou the day after the meeting, confessing that, for the first time in twenty years of doing such presentations, he just plain forgot this one. (We’ve all been there, Bob!) Fortunately for us, he kindly rescheduled for the November meeting. You won’t want to miss Bob’s incredible bird photos. I encourage you to make every effort to attend…we know Bob will, too! So, below is Lou’s original Program write-up, only slightly edited for timeliness.
Many will remember Bob Schamerhorn, our November Speaker, from his presentation for MBC a few years ago. That one focused on the astonishing variety of birds that have graced the backyard baths he so selflessly provides for them at his home in Richmond. A native of Lynchburg, he became intoxicated with birds and nature in general as a child, has been a longtime member of VSO, and only relocated to the state capital in 2006. He is a self-employed Graphic Artist and insists he is no “professional” nature photographer in the sense of making his living from that alone. Judge for yourself, however. There is nothing amateurish about the quality of his work and that will be obvious on November 2nd Please come see his newest program on the Wood Warblers we all so love. You may also enjoy visiting Bob’s website at iphotobirds.com.
As tradition dictates, you are invited to our Meet the Speaker pre-meeting dinner at Brick Oven Restaurant, 1966 Rio Hill Center, Charlottesville at 5:30pm.
